Buddy Scott of His Love Christian Counseling (a portion of the profits of MikeyWear sold with the "God Bless Texas" and "Jesus Loves Me!" designs goes to His Love) has written a wonderful book...
This book helps parents, grandparents, or guardians recover their children or grandchildren from the wrong crowd and/or inappropriate attitudes and behaviors. Buddy shows you what to do and gives you examples of how to do it. He explains what to say and gives you examples of how to say it. In addition, Relief serves as a how-to book for preparing younger children for less dangerous journeys through teen years.
Buddy has helped Deb and I make it through the "family matters" that I have refered to and his book has been a part of it, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Thursday, October 19, 2006 Why pay wheelbarrows full of money for a website?
One of the myths out there is that you have to pay tons of money to have a successful website, shell out bucks for the web hosting, shell out more for web design, shell out even more for search engine placement, etc...
Well, why not do it yourself and save all that money? It's not that hard...
There's a number of web hosting companies out there that include packages at an affordable price, where you can do it yourself, and they have it set up where it's easy to do all that...
The web hosting I use for MikeyWear.Com and iamnotagenious.com is StartLogic.Com, it includes more than you will ever use to set up and maintain your website and the entire ProLogic package (what I use) is only $71.40 a year, the only problems I've had was because it was too easy and I tried to make it more complicated than it was (spent 48 hours to set up my 1st table, until I realized it set it up for me) and the non-outsourced tech support hasn't treated me like an idiot when I've had to call them, for even more support they have great tutorials and there's also a forum where you can ask helpful StartLogic users with experience about how to do things...
Yep, you can do it yourself for only $71.40 a year...
And StartLogic isn't the only web hosting company out there like this, just don't know who they are because I haven't needed to look, if anyone knows of any others, please post about them in a reply to this post over on my blog on MySpace...
Hope eveyone has a really Fantastic Thursday, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Saturday, July 15, 2006 Book Review: About becoming a financial success on your own and in a "Really Really Big Way"
In my writings here about becoming a success, it comes down to relying on God's guidance, then having a positive attitude, questioning any advise that folks give you that is not based on their personal experience (most folks give the advise they give only because everyone else is giving the same advise, and while it is given with good intentions, it most of the time doesn't have anything to do with actual reality unless it is based on personal experience), watch and listen to what folks are doing and saying (when they are not giving advise), and using what you have learned from all this to develop your success strategy, and because it was you that came up with your strategy, the passion you will have for what you are doing will, in fact, ensure that you do succeed...
The Flea Market Booth and MikeyWearMobile has provided me with an opportunity to try out different ideas and watch folks reactions to the ideas, although they haven't brought in very many sales yet, besides being a great way to get a whole bunch of name recognition with a microscopic budget, a lot of my current marketing is based on what I learned from how folks reacted to them...
When Dayna Steele had her show on the Biz Radio Network, my routine included driving the MikeyWearMobile through different area school zones as school got out a few times a week and watching the students and their parents reactions to what I jokingly refer to as the "Biggest Eyesore in Brazoria County," while at the same time listening to Dayna's show, which always got my brain just a storming away to come up with even more ideas to try...
Then after Dayna's show there was another person's show, of course, being too lazy to turn the dial when his show came on a lot of the times when I was beginning this routine, I became a regular listener of his show and have been fascinated with what he says, my routine now includes running the day's errands a few times a week while listening to his show, and out of the parking lots I sit in waiting for him to go to a commercial break before I go in the building that the parking lot is there for, I get the funniest looks in the post office parking lot, still working on how to turn that knowledge into an advantage with what I'm doing, so anyway, he now has this book out about what he has been telling his listeners...
I tried to add a link to it as "Now Reading" at the bottom of this post, but as any regular blogger here on MySpace knows, that function doesn't always work and it didn't work this time, so here's a link to Buy It At Amazon.Com...
It's not about any of Dan's investment strategies, but he shares his philosophy about investing to help you develop your own investment strategies, and Dan's philosophy about investing is, as Tobin Smith describes in the forward, "two things. The first is being optimistic about the economy and freedom and democracy. The second part is really about human nature and that is the part that is the least talked about in the market and one of the most important aspects to investing: overcoming your own ego."
And the way his co-author, Laura Baker, turns the book into a story.....WoW!
And here's something that regular readers of this blog should find interesting, on the fateful trip BarbedWire Bob and I took into Houston to get some Miso, that resulted in the "THE BOX" Series, it began with one of Dan's commercials on the Biz Radio Network, where he was speaking about "thinking outside of the box," my response was "What? Dan's Now Saying It Too?" and I turned off the radio and started ranting and raving about what I would rather do with "THE BOX," then after I calmed down, Bob and I brainstormed "THE BOX" Series into what it is, now in "Massage Session #1" of Dan's book, he gives his real thoughts on "THE BOX" by saying, "You think the box is reality, but it's really just drawn in there for you by the people you look to define your reality - experts, reporters, leaders, teachers. Some of them have their own agendas, you know."
Since Dan is selling this book, it would be unfair to him to tell you any more about what he writes, so if you want to find out more, you will have to buy Dan's book or read someone else's review...
Dan's optimism comes off on the radio to a lot of folks as being cocky and arrogant, after the few times I've had the opportunity to meet Dan and speak with him, I believe he is a genuinely humble man who is extremely confident in what he does and find him even more fascinating in person than on the radio...
One of those times I've had the opportunity to meet Dan and speak with him was at his book signing Thursday, where he also had free food, I want to let everyone know that when he says he will have free food at one of his appearances, it will be catered by a $30-40 or more a couple (without alcohol) restaurant in such large quantities that to get all of it eaten, his staff is already trying to get you to start eating while you are still mingling when you first come in and encourage you to eat more the entire time you are there, although I should have, after munching down the entire time at the signing, there was still so much left at the end that I didn't think to ask before getting a plate to take home, Sissy could tell how good it was and stole the last piece of pizza from the take home plate right in front of me, she usually doesn't steal food right in front of me, but I couldn't really blame her because it was that good...
When Dan is away from his show he has someone from one of the other Biz Radio shows fill in for him and up till now I havent kept track of who says what, one of them had given an example of his philosophy, similar to Dan's, but in day trading, I have been tracking the example he gave and it has done the exact same thing every day for over a month, no matter what the market has done, then at Dan's book signing I met two of them, Brent Clanton and Vince Rowe, when I walked in Brent was the first to introduce himself, although I'm still not sure which investing philosphy I've heard is his, Brent is cool because no matter how silly I get in the emails I send him he always responds to them, so we got to talking and I asked him if he was the one that gave the example, he said it was Vince and pointed him out, so after the conversation with Brent I went to speak with Vince, I'm not awake when Brent and Vince are on the air, but after meeting them in person I'm going to finally break down and buy an I-Pod to download the podcasts of their shows and listen to them...
While mingling towards the end of the book review, I also spoke with a man who told about how after reading Dan's book he had developed an investment strategy using Dan's philosophy and was so confident it would work that he applied his whole retirement portfolio to the 1st action he took using his new strategy, whether anyone thinks it was foolish or not, I don't think he cares, because he made $60K from that one action...
Along with the other projects going on, I've been working out an investment strategy for myself from what I have learned by listening to Dan's show and will be adding more to it with what I will learn from the others on the Biz Radio Network, to invest a lot of the profits made from the current projects, to fund some other projects, and I am confident that I will be able to do it, now regarding what the future projects are, well, more will be revealed, of course, hope everyone is having a Wonderful Weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Saturday, May 13, 2006 A Couple Of Books To Brainstorm By...
Yeah, I'm on a roll about marketing, please bear with me and I will get back to the usual wide variety of postings soon...
When I'm starting to run out of ideas to promote MikeyWear, all I have to do is read one of these two books, my brain will start churning again and so many ideas ideas will pop out that my biggest problem will be figuring out which one to use first...
I can't say which has helped more at getting my imagination working to come up with marketing ideas for MikeyWear that others either haven't thought of and/or haven't tried...
Dayna Steele refered me to this one when she had her show on the The Biz Radio Network...

Where I will be reading some of the "Ginsuisms," like Ginsuism #2 (If they say it can't be done, you'll just have to do it yourself), #4 (Zig when other people zag), and to me the most annoying in practice, but most valuable, #13 (Not making a mistake is the biggest mistake) and think "hey, this confirms what I'm doing this right," I will read further and my personal definition of the Ginsuisms will have changed dramatically, then each time I re-read it those definitions change again and again...
Some of the Ginsuisms are very sound business and marketing advice that I wasn't aware of and now take to heart, like Ginsuism #7 (Keep your secrets to yourself), and "there's more," they have a very helpful "Bonus Ginsuism" at the end of the book...
There are sometimes I am lost without it, when we turned the old study into Debbie's sewing room, Deb took all of the books into my office and I then couldn't find it, so after calling the bookstore in Lake Jackson and finding out they didn't have it, I invented an excuse to go into Houston to buy another...
Even if you aren't involved in Business and/or Marketing, it's still a great story!
If you want more info on this book, you can go to the Ginsu Guys Website. When going to get my 2nd Wisdom of Ginsu (see above) I had the money for a 2nd book and found his one, by Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval of the Kaplan Thaler Group the creators of the AFLAC Duck and the infamous Clairol Herbal Essences Shampoo commercials...
BANG!: Getting Your Message Heard In A Noisy World
Just how do you get attention for anything in the age of information overload? Create an idea so different, so polarizing, so unexpected that it cannot be ignored say Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval, whose advertising agency created award-winning and memorable ads for the AFLAC duck and Clairol Herbal Essences Shampoo. In their new book, BANG!: Getting Your Message Heard in a Noisy World they share the methods behind creating Big Bang messages, along with contrarian advice on inspiration, creativity, and intuition. Witty, wise, and chock full of stories behind some of the most successful advertising campaigns of our time, BANG! is a pleasure to read and a profitable look at making creativity work in your company. (Credit: electricartists.com)
According to Thaler and Koval, big bangs are achieved in an atmosphere where rules are ignored, organization is compressed, chaos is embraced and intuitive thinking is encouraged, like what goes on at our zoo, they tell a great story too, and if you are into trivia, after reading this you will know more about the AFLAC Duck than anyone else...
If you insist on being stuck in a rut for the rest of your life, going to team meetings, thinking you know it all, wasteing way too much time talking about things like how you should be thinking outside of the box, and not actually accomplishing anything, then these books are not for you, but if you want to be able to figure out things like how to destroy THE BOX, that folks going nowhere are only talking about, and be a success, you should read these two book over and over and over, etc...
Also listed below is another book that, although not up at the top with these two books (yet?), I am currently reading it for the 2nd time and have found it very helpful, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
