Flavorful Chili Recipe!

I would like to remind everyone that MikeyWear quality infant and toddler clothing and iamnotagenious.com shirts and coffee mugs will make great Christmas gifts...

This recipe started when I was trying to make spaghetti sauce one night back in the early 80s and I then worked on for a couple of decades until I had a recipe that I could really be proud of...

Mikey's Flavorful Chili

6 lbs Ground Chuck
 2  Large Baking Potatoes
4 - 6oz Cans Tomato Paste
1 - 10oz Can Tomato Puree
1 - 15oz Can Ricos Condensed Cheese Sauce
1 - 1.31oz Package Sloppy Joe Seasoning
1 - 1.37oz Package "Thick and Zesty" Spaghetti Sauce Mix
1.5oz Gebhart Chili Powder
1 Tablespoon of Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon Garlic Pepper
4 Cups Water + Water Needed To Rinse Out Cans

Pour 4 Cups Water into pot and heat it on stove at a little higher than simmering temperature, empty Tomato Paste, Tomato Puree, & Cheese Sause, rinsing each can twice with water and spoon and pouring into pot, stir in Sloppy Joe Seasoning, Spaghetti Sauce Mix, Chili Powder, Black Pepper, & Garlic Pepper, stir once every two or three minutes...

Peel Potatoes and run them through a cheese grater, rinse thouroughly and put them in pot, stir once every minute or two...

Brown Ground Chuck until fully cooked (either 1 or 1 1/2lbs at a time), drain grease, and put into pot...

Turn heat down to
simmering temperature and place lid on pot, take lid off to stir every four or five minutes for an hour, then enjoy!

We won't be cooking tonight, I'm taking Deb out for our 10th Anniversary, hope everyone has a Fantastically Terrific Thursday, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Special Message To Child Predators...

For the benefit of those that are new to this blog and/or don't know much about MySpace yet, here's a re-post of what I originally wrote here on July 14th and still holds true today...

If you are reading this and are not a child predator, this was not written for you so there is no reason to be offended, but if you are a child predator, well...

Attention Child Predators!
MySpace Is Not A Safe Place For You!!!

You may be reading, listening to, or watching news reports about child predators on MySpace, thinking to yourself  "duh, I can go to MySpace to find my next target," dont, pay more attention to the news reports, even though the reports more often than not place their focus on MySpace in a negative manner (where they usually say MySpace.Com with a sneer more times than necessary, the same way they say SUV a bunch of times when someone driving a SUV is in a wreck, like the wreck was actually the SUVs fault), they are reporting child predators being caught, taken to jail, and prosecuted...

The fact is, MySpace has helped folks realize how easy it is to catch you...

All over the country, local police task forces are now set up to catch you, the Sugar Land police task force alone has already caught over 80 of you since it began, and if you live in or are visiting Houston or its surrounding area, dont for a minute think you are safe by avoiding Sugar  Land, they arent the only local police with a task force set up to catch you, more are being started too, and if you think you are going to find out on this blog who they are, well, you are sadly mistaken, because Im not going to tell you, Nanny Nanny Boo Boo, Stick Your Head In Doo Doo...

Theres others out there looking for you, parents concerned about their kids enough to monitor what they are doing on the internet is rapidly becoming cool the point that internet stalker moms are turning into a new fad, a lot of parents watch over the all of the children in their entire community too, and if they are the ones that find you, they will report you to the police and you will end up in the same place that you would go if its the police that find you...

You could even get 2-3 minutes of shame if its a TV news crew that catches you and turns you over to the police, 6-9 minutes if they show your arrest at 4, 6, & 10 o'clock...

Heres something else to think about: Renegades that take the law into the own hands could be the ones that catch you...

And last, but not least, MySpace is not the only place on the net where these folks are looking for you...

Since you can't get away with it anymore, if you want to have a really Great Week you need to give it up and give it up right now, get yourself some help for your problem, dont wait and do it today.....Mikey

3/18/07 Update: I heard on the radio last week that the Texas Attorney General's office has joined the throng of law enforcement organizations who are catching internet child predators, already caught over 90 of them...

Here's a repost of another "Chickasha Oklahoma Legend" Grandmother Vera's recipes that Dad had typed up...

From June 28, 2006:

Several years ago Vera gave me an envelope with a large amount of recipes in it. Over 50 are in her hand writing and the rest came from just everywhere she could clip them out . I will be sending these out typed. All that I send will be from Vera's own hand writing and the best I can read them. Some are dated in the 70s and one seems to be from Claudene's high school days (Over 15 years ago).

Chickasha Green Peas

4  Teaspoons of butter or oleo
1/2 cup of finely chopped onion.
2  One pound bags of frozen green peas
1  Cup of boiling water
2 Chicken bullion cubes

1. In large pot, saute onions in the margarine/butter over low heat until transparent & slightly caramelized (Light Brown).
2. Add frozen green peas , water & bullion cubes to pot.
3. Cook 5-10 minutes until peas are just done & tender crisp. Remove from heat. Don't over cook.

This doesn't sound as good as it taste , when served with a baked hen , yeast rolls and Native Honey.

Hope everyone has a really Wonderful Week, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Let's get some BINGO Games Going!

I was actively involved in church youth groups from the end of 6th grade until the day I graduated from high school, then on graduation night I began to use drugs, when I decided to get off the drugs (a little over 16 years ago), what I had learned in those church youth groups made it a lot easier to understand what I had to do to get off and stay drugs...

One of my fondest memories when was when the first youth group I was involved in would go to a senior citizen's home and get a Bingo game going for them, we would bring white elephant gifts from home to give them as prizes and would play until all of them won something, one person would call the numbers, while others would help them mark their cards and know when to yell "Bingo!" and others would go around to visit those that didn't come to play Bingo, it was a lot of fun and it taught us a lot about helping others...

I would like for more church youth groups and youth organizations to do this, so I am in the process of purchasing 12 (to start with) Bingo cage sets, with cards and markers, to send to church youth groups or youth organizations that would like to go to an assisted living center (think that's what they call them now) and get regular Bingo games going in those facilities...

So I have all my ducks in a row, the church youth group or youth organization will need to have "all" of the the following info on the church's or organization's letterhead...

Name of church youth group or youth organization...
Mailing address of church or organization...
Contact email address...
Name and adress of assisted living center...
Contact name and number for church or organization... (to verify)
Contact name and number at assisted living center... (to verify)

Mail it to...

Angleton, Tx 77516

Let's get some Bingo Games Going! Hope everyone has a really great Wednesday, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

2/27/07 Angleton City Council Report!
You can read this Angleton City Council report and others, as well as other posts about the City of Angleton, Texas in this blog's archives at:

As long time readers know, there was a shake up of Angleton's local media outlets, which resulted in this blog being Angleton's oldest source for the city's news, which, although I haven't been to one for some months, includes covering the Angleton City Council, the great group of folks who pull double duty, preparing Angleton for the upcoming population explosion and keeping it's current residents happy at the same time, it's amazing that they don't pull out all their hair...

When arriving at City Hall I found that there is now a park in front of it...

A lot has happened while I've been negligent in my duties, Mayor Sebesta became County Commissioner Sebesta and Mayor Pro Tem Patrick Henry became the new mayor, while Roger Collins became Mayor Pro Tem...

Paul Feazelle is the new Interim City Manager, replacing Michael Stoldt, and Councilman Jason Perez is the Angleton Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year...

And Gregg Dykes is now filling Roger Collins' slot, but he was not there for me to take his picture, so will have to get it the next time I am there...

As mentioned in previous posts, Angleton finally adopted a new smoking ordinance in December and it takes effect March 1 and you can print your own "official Angleton no-smoking sign at www.angleton.tx.us/pdf/nosmoking.pdf, it's going to be interesting to see how folks here react to it...

And now that we are caught up on old news, it's time to get to coverage of this month's Angleton City Council meeting...

One of the things that's part of Angleton is trains running through it day and night, one of the citizens had bought a decibel meter and reported that the train horns were blowing at over 100 decibels...

Chamane from the
Brazoria County Center For Independent Living spoke to the Council about the handicapped needing public transportation in the southern half of Brazoria County, she mentioned that her daughter had to go to college in Pennsylvania because there is no public transportation here, which led to the 1st action item...

Alan Rodenstein of
A&R Consulting Solutions submitted his southern Brazoria County transit feasibility study (you can check out the summary here), showing that public transportation could run efficiently between Angleton, Clute, Freeport, and Lake Jackson (classified by the Census Bureau in 1993 as a small urban area) and requested funding for further study, after confusion about the cost of further study was settled, he received the funding...

We had 15 other action items this month, including improvements to Freedom Park, purchasing 3 new police vehicles and 17 new police digital video camera systems, review of the curfew ordinance, and more action on the never ending work of improving improving Angleton's sewers and wastewater treatment, Mayor Henry kept the meeting moving very efficiently...

Well, that's it for this month, hope everyone is having a really Fantastic Wednesday, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Grandmother Vera's Potato Salad & Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Want to remind everyone that "Chickasha Oklahoma Legend" Grandmother Vera's Recipes that are posted here can all be viewed on one page in the blog's archives at:

Here's a repost of an old favorite from June 20, 2006:

Several years ago Vera gave me an envelope with a large amount of recipes in it.  Over 50 are in her hand writing and the rest came from just everywhere she could clip them out . I will be sending these out typed. All that I send will be from Vera's own hand writing and the best I can read them. Some are dated in the 70s and one seems to be from Claudene's high school days (Over 15 years ago).

Potato Salad

4 large boiled potatoes cut in small squares
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/4 cup real lemon juice, 1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup mayonaise

Boil potatoes until tender. Mix lemon juice, sugar, & mayonaise and salt & onions --pour over potatoes and mix.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup of butter or oleo, 2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup brown sugar
1 box (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding
2 1/4 cup flour, 1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup nuts chopped.
2 cups sweet chocolate chips

Oven at 375, mix the ingredients. Place the small balls of cookie dough on a lightly greased cookie sheet and press lightly with one finger on each cookie.

Note from Dad: Vera didn't say how long to cook the cookies but you can watch them closely, as she did, and take them out when lightly browned. She told me to wait until the cookies cooled to eat them but she never waited for them to cool for her to nibble on them.

Going to start going to the Angleton City Council meetings again this evening, so I'm sure ya'll can guess what will be posted here in a day or two, hope everyone is having a really Terrific Tuesday, take care and God Bless.....Mikey

Views On Life...

Since there are some folks who have been looking at iamnotagenious.com and are now checking this blog out to find why I am doing things like sticking out my tongue and dressing up as a really weird clown, here's a repost of what I wrote here that should shed a little light on the matter...

About The Legend Deal

Since MikeyWear.Com started, I have believed (and still do believe!) that it will become a Pop Culture Phenomenon and a few months back realized that it becoming that big would make me a Pop Culture Icon...

And you know, I just cannot allow that to happen!!!

So since then, I have been putting a lot of time and energy to avoid "Icon" status by doing all I can to becoming a "Legend" instead...

Rest assured, every time I refer to myself as a "Pop Culture Legend In The Making" or a "Great Texas Legend In The Making" or simply a "Legend In The Making," a bunch of giggling is going along with it, and I mean a bunch of giggling...
