I'm Back!
Have had a family crisis to deal with since I posted last Friday and just got home a few hours ago, while it's been a more stressful than usual week, a lot of the "Family Matters" got worked out and that part of my life should not be as stressful as it has been in the past, which except for maybe hurting my creativity (see Kaplan-Thaler Group book Bang! reference somewhere back in the archives) just a little bit, things are a lot better than they were a week ago...
Meanwhile, my parents have been taking care of Deb and she is doing much better after her two emergency room trips two weekends ago, although a few of the plants I've been working on were real thirsty (and now watered, even though it looks like it's going to rain), all of the critters here at our zoo are OK, and I have still been off drugs for a little over 16 years...
So anyway, when not getting to know the four legged critters here at our zoo again and/or straightening up the house, hope to post this weekend what I have learned about making comments here on MySpace and another post about gathering cans for recycling, as well as try to start catching up on replies, of course, but for now, after welcoming all the folks who sent friend requests while I was gone, I'm going to take a long, relaxing shower and go to bed, hope everyone has a really Wonderful Weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Ps: Would like to thank the person that mowed and edged the lawn here at our zoo, it looks great Dad!
Friday, September 01, 2006 Well...
Deb's health problems started back up again (hospital emergency rooms last Saturday and Sunday), have had "Family Matter's" to deal with too, so where as some of you have seen, I have been on here on MySpace some, but haven't been in much of a mood to post or reply...
But somehow in the middle of all this, I got a newspaper ad campaign started for the month of September, you can see the ads online (will need to download the .pdf files and read it with an Adobe Acrobat reader) on Tuesdays in Angleton's Times Community News and on Wednesdays in THE POST, and although you won't be able to view them online, there will be ads on both Sunday's and Wednesdays in The Facts...
There's also a new banner up at iamnotagenious.com to support all this, would post it here, but have to run, so you will have to check it out there...
Will probably be busy again this weekend too, hope everybody has a great one, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Monday, August 28, 2006 MikeyWear.Com Lives! So Don't Worry! Be Happy! Or something like that...
Yeah, I'm posting this on Friday and it says Monday, since I'm going to be away for the weekend again am posting them all early...
There's a bunch of confusion about the re-organization, hopefully this post will clarify some of it...
This is not the end of MikeyWear.Com, not sure yet what I'm going to do with the site, will probably have announcements of projects I have going on, which, as always, will be given in detail here on this blog...
Unless I have to move this blog to another site, this will continue to be the MikeyWear.Com blog because, well, that's what it is, the MikeyWear.Com blog, and if I have to move this blog to another site, it will still be called the MikeyWear.Com blog...
This is the end of me having anything at all to do with selling Quality Infant & Toddler Clothing, or for that matter, any kind of merchandise, under the MikeyWear name, if it becomes Ebay auctionable, I'm still done with MikeyWear, there was a time when I grew a beard to prevent blood loss because I couldn't look at myself in the mirror when shaving, so being able to continue to look at myself in the mirror is, without any doubt, more important to me than any money I would make...
If I sell any more Quality Infant & Toddler Clothing with the current designs that are on MikeyWear, it will be because there is demand for it and it will be sold under a different name, I had mentioned a few posts ago that it would be under the iamnotagenious.com name, not so sure now, but I have other concerns right now and not going to worry about what name it would be called unless there is demand for it...
Per the agreement with TXDOT, I will continue to pick up trash on the two miles of Texas Highway I have promised to pick up trash till the Great Texas Trash Off 2007 and I will be out there for July's trash pick up if it ever stops raining long enough for it to be dry enough for me to do it...
As I have planned since the beginning of this Odyssey, if they will take it, the moment I can buy a new car for Debbie, the MikeyWearMobile will be donated to an organization I have promised it to so they can destroy it with sledgehammers, baseball bats, etc... to raise funds for that organization, and will donate it to another organization for the same purpose if they won't take it...
Once all the MikeyWear has been sold, the organizations I have promised contributions to from it's sales will be sent checks and by the end of this month I will figure out how to work all of them into the iamnotagenious.com project so they can continue to benefit from the sales of what I'm selling, because, as stated at MikeyWear.Com, I believe in the organizations...
I have not stopped covering the Angleton City Council meetings for this blog, just took a few months off (heck, forgot about this month's meeting), because after all, this blog is Angleton's Oldest Source For The City's News and I just can't let someone else take that title, hope everyone has a Super Fantastic Week, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Sunday, August 27, 2006 Bingo Reminder...
Going to be busy again this weekend and still have all 12 Bingo Cage Kits left, so here's another re-post for while I'm away from here...
Saturday, April 29, 2006 Let's get some BINGO Games Going!
I was actively involved in church youth groups from the end of 6th grade until the day I graduated from high school, then on graduation night I began to use drugs, when I decided to get off the drugs (a little over 16 years ago), what I had learned in those church youth groups made it a lot easier to understand what I had to do to get off and stay drugs...
One of my fondest memories when was when the first youth group I was involved in would go to a senior citizen's home and get a Bingo game going for them, we would bring white elephant gifts from home to give them as prizes and would play until all of them won something, one person would call the numbers, while others would help them mark their cards and know when to yell "Bingo!" and others would go around to visit those that didn't come to play Bingo, it was a lot of fun and it taught us a lot about helping others...
I would like for more church youth groups and youth organizations to do this, so I am in the process of purchasing 12 (to start with) Bingo cage sets, with cards and markers, to send to church youth groups or youth organizations that would like to go to an assisted living center (think that's what they call them now) and get regular Bingo games going in those facilities...
So I have all my ducks in a row, the church youth group or youth organization will need to have "all" of the the following info on the church's or organization's letterhead...
Name of church youth group or youth organization... Mailing address of church or organization... Contact email address... Name and adress of assisted living center... Contact name and number for church or organization... (to verify) Contact name and number at assisted living center... (to verify)
Mail it to...
MikeyWear PO Box 2759 Angleton, Tx 77516
Let's get some Bingo Games Going! Hope everyone has a great weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Saturday, August 26, 2006 Michael Stoldt is leaving Angleton, so...
Read in Micheal Boddy's Weekly Journal that Michael Stoldt is moving on (with some hair left on his head too!) from his City Manager's position here in Angleton to go to work for the city of Lampasas, TX (you can read the article here), so went back in the archives to re-post the article that was written about the locally infamous Mr Stoldt...
Friday, March 31, 2006 Meet Another Michael...
This Is Michael Stoldt
Note that he didn't pull out his hair after Tuesday's City Council Meeting
Michael worked his way through Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science by working as an Electrician, where his original intentions were to go for a Law Degree after that, upon graduation he wasn't so sure, so to give himself some time to take a look around and see what else was out there before he decided, he joined the Peace Corps... The skills Michael had that the Peace Corps could use were teaching and electronics, so he ended up going to the island of Haapai, one of the two medium population islands of the 96 inhabitable (out of 169) Tongan Islands in the South Pacific Ocean setting up a power grid on the island... Now on the Tongan Islands, different countries provide grants for improvements to the islands to help make it's citizen's lives better and Australia had provided a grant to provide Haapai with electricity, most of the equipment for this project had been bought and then left on the island to sit there... So Michael during his first six months in the Peace Corps learned what needed to be done to get electricity going on Haapai, the next six months took an inventory of what was on the island and obtain the rest of what was needed to finish the job, then went to work... His time with the Peace Corps ended before the project was complete, but I did confirm someone else finished it, and you can too by clicking the "Haapai" link above to see that power is, in fact, currently running there and is providing electricty to it's weather station... While working with the Tonga Electric Power Board on this project while he was there, Michael discovered what he wanted to do (and it wasn't to become a lawyer), so when he returned to the US he went back to school to earn a Master's Degree in Community and Regional Planning from University of Texas at Austin. Instead of working for a big city after he earned his Master's Degree, to have opportunities for advancement Michael started his new career working for the City of Copperas Cove, then the City of Marble Falls, to gain the experience necessary (part of his job in Copperas Cove even included supervising their homeless shelter) for the City of Angleton to feel that he was qualified to take on the task he currently has... Now whether Michael will have any hair left when he's done here, well, we will just have to wait and see... It's funny, every night that I plan to go to bed early, I don't realize it's too late to do so until it's way too late, oh well, take care, God Bless, and have a Terrific Weekend.....Mikey
Friday, August 25, 2006 Hurricane Relief...
I keep hearing about some sort of tropical disturbance that was near Africa and may be heading towards the Texas Gulf Coast, haven't worried because if it gets anywhere near here it will be so sensationalized that I won't be able to not find out all about it and still have time to take the needed action to take care of Deb and all the critters here at our zoo, so in the mean time, here's a re-post of some things I learned during the Katrina relief efforts about getting help to folks and who to send my contributions to...
Please note that the Robert I refer to here became Barbedwire Bob a number of posts later in this blog, hope everyone has a very Wonderful Weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Wednesday, August 31, 2005 Ways to help the post-Katrina Relief Efforts...
Hey All!
I really don't know where to start, there are so many folks in the Houston Area that have evacuated (and continue to evacuate from New Orleans) that it seems new shelters are being opened almost hourly and Houston's mayor is talking about opening up the Astrodome, and that's just this one phase of the relief efforts...
One of the things a lot of us worry about is if all of the donations we are making are really going to go to help or are the folks taking the donations skimming off the top and only giving part of our donations to the relief efforts, so here are some that I know that will actually help with the relief efforts...
You can donate to Star of Hope Mission (http://www.sohmission.org/) and designate it to go to the Emergency Shelter, I went up there last night to donate 70 MikeyWear t-shirts and jumpers and they are totally overwhelmed trying to help folks that came to Houston to get away from the disaster, there were so many young children there last night that I'm sure all the clothing will be passed out to them this morning, to make sure it goes to clothes for the children you can buy them yourself at your local Salvation Army/Goodwill/etc... (so you can give more) and ship them to:
Star of Hope Mission Women & Family Emergency Shelter 419 Dowling Houston, TX 77003
You can make donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund (designated for disasters in the US) or to really make sure it goes to help with the relief efforts you can donate via their website specifically to the local Red Cross Chapters in the areas that have been hit by Katrina...
Clear Channel Communications has set up a site with other ways to help at http://www.stormaid.com/, with as much scrutiny that Clear Channel is under, I'm sure that all donations to the organziations they list will go to help with the relief efforts...
Hope this is helpful, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Thursday, September 01, 2005 Time to rant...
In this blog I have been trying to nicely say that instead of only sending money and wait for it to be processed to get the needed help to the folks whose lives have been completely torn apart by Katrina, right now you can take needed items or send cash to places where folks are not wasting any time at getting these people food, water, and clothing...
Well, after tonights experience, I am not going to be as nice...
I had heard on the radio there were folks that couldnt get help at the dome because they didnt come to Houston on one of the busses and they were in the Fiesta parking lot at Kirby and OST and there were problems there with folks that were not grateful for what they were given and wanted more from the folks that were helping, like beer, I knew that there would still be folks who would immediately need the things that are necessary for all human beings to live, so when I got home I said to my best friend Robert "well Robert, some folks are saying that the National Guard should be brought into handle the folks that they won't let into the Dome and they need food, so are you ready to go?" and after getting about 30 minutes of rest we were on our way...
Ive found that the best way to help folks in situations like this is to show up and ask what they need and then go get it, so thats what we did, when we got to the Fiesta parking lot there was the usual amount of vehicles for a normal business day, so we looked around and saw a smoker in the parking lot of a closed down crafts store on the other side of the corner and that was it, so we drove through one time to access the situation...
There was some dudes that had brought the smoker and were cooking the meat and putting it out on tables where there was already a bunch of stuff to go with it, there were cases of water and sodas stacked, a little bit farther down there were boxes of donations of clothing and toiletries, and people were constantly driving in the parking lot and dropping off more so they never ran out of anything, the folks needing help were getting the immediate help they needed, and I have never seen something like this before, no mater how well planned or organized, that was as orderly as this...
There were women from some church that were asking women with children if they had a place to stay for the night and if told no would say you do now and took them to a place to stay for the night...
Toys R Us across OST had agreed to let them set up in their parking lot after they closed, so they could be at a place where there was light when it was dark, and everyone made the move with no problems at all...
None of this had been planned in any way, it was not being put on by any organizations, there was no one processing anything or anybody, no one was telling anyone what to do, and all the folks there were getting the immediate help that they needed...
None of the folks helping wasted any time with unnecessary talk, they didnt pat each other on the back and tell each other what a great job they were doing, they just got the job done...
On the drive through it looked like they had and were going to continue to get all they needed but charcoal, so made another drive through to ask the dudes running the smoker to make sure, they said they needed some ice too, so we got them enough charcoal to last through tomorrow and enough ice to last through the night...
After that, since it was the 4th quarter of the Texans game and they were losing, we decided not to take Kirby and ended up on Fannin, I would describe what we saw, but the TV is fairly accurate about what a mess it is and I dont need to get my blood pressure up before going to bed, so take care and God Bless..Mikey
Ps: We didnt see anyone, during the time we were there, that was trying to get free beer...
Saturday, September 03, 2005 Food, Clothing, Toiletries, Shelter, Etc...
If you have collected food/clothing/toiletries/etc... and would like for it to go today to folks that need it, instead of just collected and stored while the collection sites wait for the Red Cross to tell them where to take it, take it directly to any of the Red Cross Shelters or the Star of Hope, you can also watch the news to find out about other places that are getting immediate relief to the folks that need it...
Note: 2nd Baptist Church on Shanks Road in Angleton now has evacuees in their beds, any and all food/clothing/toiletries/etc... will be very helpful and rapidly used to help the folks they have there...
If you have a shelter with empty beds and don't know how to fill them, watch and/or listen to your local news on TV and/or radio and you will be able to find plenty of folks that desperately need those beds...
And while I'm at it,there will be a MikeyWear booth today at the Blues and Bikes Festival, that the City of Freeport is having today from 1 to 11pm, Mikey the Clown should be there by 3pm to pass out candy to the kids, you can find out the details by going to the "Meet Mikey" link at MikeyWear.Com...
Saturday, September 03, 2005 Charcoal and Ice Needed Near Astrodome...
The folks that are helping out the people who were turned away at the Astrodome, in front of the Toys-R-Us at the corner of Kirby and Old Spanish Trail in Houston (note: the blog about them may have already been transfered to my blog archives), will need at least 200 lbs. of charcoal tommorrow, they will need ice too, at least 500 lbs., but due to ice donations by others and the limits of their storage capacity, please check with them 1st before bringing more than 100 lbs, you won't be able to get a reciept to take your donation off your taxes, but it will help get, many, many, many folks that are out of the "relief effort" loop the immediate they need, I know my limits and know that I am going to be too exhausted tommorrow to take anything up there, take care, God Bless, and G'night.....Mikey
Wednesday, September 07, 2005 Move to another corner of Kirby and OST...
1st off, want to tell you about something I have learned during all this, where you really should wear a winter coat if you are in a Mercury Tracer with 400 lbs of ice in the back seat, wearing shorts and a t-shirt is tolerable if you only have 300 lbs of ice in the back seat...
The folks that are helping the people who were turned away from the dome are no longer 24/7, but will be there from morning to evening, still serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will now either be at the closed down craft store parking lot or off to the Old Spanish Trail side of the Fiesta parking lot, same corner, don't know if the military Humvees that were in the Toys-R-Us parking lot when we left have anything to do with the move or not...
Was told that yesterday there was a big argument (looks like I picked a very good day to collapse and not go up there) between the different folks that were helping, some of them wanted to accept cash donations and the others wanted to refuse cash donations, resulting in the folks that were wanting to take cash donations leaving, so they will not accept cash donations there and will only accept what is needed to help the people...
Thank you to whoever came by and donated charcoal! Combining that with the 120 lbs I brought today, they should have enough to last them a few days, the biggest need that they have now is lots and lots and lots of ice, but what is really the best thing to do is go by and ask them what they need most to help before going to buy anything...
Due to no longer running 24/7, at the end of the day they are taking what clothes that are not distributed down to the Star of Hope for the Clothing Distribution (once again, the keyword is: "Distribution") Center on Ruiz...
It's time for bed, so take care, g'night, and God Bless....Mikey
Wednesday, September 07, 2005 For those new to this blog...
Note: A lot of what I have written about the Katrina relief efforts and how you can get immediate help to the folks that need it has been rolled over to the archives...
I don't know of a shelter that can't use everything that is donated, but one of the biggest needs at the shelters I've heard from is childrens clothing, still suggest, though, that if you are going to buy something, go by the shelter 1st and ask them what they need the most...
Have been ordered by my friends and family to stay home and rest for a few days and I'm too tired to argue with them, so guess what I'll be doing?
It's wonderful to see so many people in other parts of the US stepping up to the plate to help these folks, it's helping more than you will ever know, take care and God Bless......Mikey
Wednesday, September 07, 2005 Should have taken my own advise...
We took another 300 lbs of ice up to where folks were helping the people who were turned away from the dome and they are no longer there, saw only 40-50 people walking aimlessly around the neighborhood in a daze, instead of masses of folks, evacuees can now come off the street to get processed at the Dome, they even put the entrance for that about 2 blocks away on McKee off of Main, so it looks like most of them took advantage, the Katrina Debit Cards should get the rest of them there, in other words, things are coming together in Houston...
With 300 lbs of ice still in the back of the MikeyWearMobile, we took it down to 2nd Baptist Church in Angleton (making it over a ton of supplies that the Mercury Tracer has hauled to either the Kirby/OST Relief Site, Star of Hope, or 2nd Baptist in Angleton), they currently have 25-30 beds open and have people there, waiting to help any evacuee that comes there with the paperwork to get financial aid...
Heard on the radio that the population of Baton Rouge, LA has tripled in size since this all started and I'm sure that any cash donations to their local Red Cross will be used wisely, you can also make your donations to them over the web...
After I've had a chance to get a good night's sleep, will start listing updates on shelters locations here on this blog, where folks can take food/clothing/etc... to be used to help these people without it having to spend any time going through the collection centers to get to them...
And yes, I'm being a hypocrite by saying this, because I didn't follow my own advise, but you really should ask the shelters what they need before you go buy anything for them, take care and God Bless..Mikey
Monday, September 19, 2005 Local Red Cross Chapters...
So that no confusion exists, I am not recommending that everyone donate only to the Red Cross Louisiana Capital Area Chapter (Baton Rouge, LA), but am giving an example to point out the importance of donations to all of the local Red Cross Chapters...
The reason I chose the Red Cross Louisiana Capital Area Chapter (Baton Rouge, LA) for MikeyWear's contributions was to point out what they had done and were doing, in May they were already preparing, asking for volunteers and training those volunteers, for a potential hurricane disaster, then by the grace of God Baton Rouge was not hit and they were able to kick out the jams immediately to help those that came into Baton Rouge and needed help...
What they had been and were doing was brought to my attention by a good number of the folks that came to the Kirby/OST Katrina Relief Efforts for help, who made it that far because of the help that they received from the good people of Baton Rouge, so it was that particular local chapter that was on my mind at the time...
Take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Thursday, August 24, 2006 Reorganization - Part 3
Well, all of the remaining MikeyWear is being sold at my new Ebay Store, at least I think that's all of it, sure that I didn't put up more than I have, will double check after I get some sleep and add anything that was missed, going to get some sleep before I put up links to it on the MikeyWear.Com and iamnotagenious.com sites too, had to raise the price of each item 50 cents to cover the costs, the items are still cycling through the Ebay system and into the store, but that shouldn't take much longer, you can check it out at:
Hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday, Take care, God Bless, and g'night.....Mikey
Wednesday, August 23, 2006 Promoting a book on MySpace...
Was asked last night for advise on how to promote a self-published book and figured my response would be good for a post here...
As you know, I have no experience with this, so can only say what I would do, which may or may not work, which would be...
For promoting anything on MySpace, the 1st thing I would do is get a copy of "The Wisdom Of Ginsu" by the Ginsu Guys, yeah the dudes who sold the knives in those dumb commercials, I personally have two copies in case I misplace one, would mention where my review of it is in my blog's archives, but would have to find it and already want to be in bed, so if anyone wants to read it they will have to wade through the archives to find it...
If I had time for a 2nd MySpace profile, I would definitely have one with a photo of the book's cover as the profile photo, with my 1st friend in both top 8s being the other profile and stating that in the "About Me" of both, with both of the profiles promoting the book, if I had more than one book and had the time would do a profile for each and link them all together the same way I just mentioned with the other's in the 2, 3, 4, etc... slots of each top 8...
Would invite all the authors I could to become friends, except those that write fantasy porn, of course, putting the personal profiles of authors who are busting their butts to promote their book on MySpace in the other top 8 slots...
Would also invite folks who would be interested in that type of book, MySpace's "search" feature can help with that...
Send a comment with a friendly greeting to each MySpace friend as often as I could, 1st going through my friend list with one profile, then start the next series of coments from the other profile, and not worry if any friends are not a friend of both...
A group may help, but have no experience with them as a marketing tool, so wouldn't even try to guess...
When I'm looking at reviews to decide if I want to buy a book, I pay attention to those who buy the type of book I'm wanting to buy and don't really pay attention to the others, so I would concentrate on getting reviews from folks who buy that type of book...
Use my imagination to come up with ways to promote the book on MySpace that others are not, then base the responses to figure out what to do with it from there, "The Wisdom of Ginsu" will definitely help you with that...
Hope that helps and that you have a Wonderful Wednesday, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Should start working on that online store this evening, when it's up I will announce it 1st right here, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Tuesday, August 22, 2006 Reorganization - Part 2
From the beginning I've been praying only for God's guidance, leaving it entirely up to him which way he's going to guide, and I've have no idea if MikeyWear or what I am learning from it is what he's using to guide me...
And recently on what I now refer to as The MikeyWear Odyssey I've found something that I have a natural talent for and is not as frustrating as retail sales, which I wasn't really cut out for in the 1st place, so for the last 5 1/2 days have been learning more about it and working on coming up with funds to start it, will let ya'll know more about it when I get it started, which should be by the end of next month...
So to be able to do this and, as Eric says, not go any higher than Mach 1.5, which is my limit before I start breaking down, there's more reorganization...
I've temporarily stopped the sales of MikeyWear till I have time to set up an online store to sell the remaining stock, will post the info on it here right after I get it set up, if there is a demand and time permits I will set up the online store with the same designs under the iamnotagenious.com name in time for Christmas, which I really hope to do, since marketing Quality Infant & Toddler Clothing has been my life for the last two years, I would like to keep selling it for no other reason than I am a creature of habit, but do it in a manner that will take far less of my time...
Going to keep iamnotagenious.com Blog Bunch Merchandise going, but promotion of it will be limited to changing the fliers at Taco Loco #2 and adding a plug for it at the end of each blog post here, the only item I will be adding in the next month or two (maybe more, dunno right now) will be Henry & THE BOX Cartoon4 (The American Dream Is Alive!) shirts to replace the Cartoon3 (The American Dream Is Not Dead!) shirts...
I have too much fun with this blog to even think about dropping it, so I won't, will continue to call this the MikeyWear.Com blog, because, well, that's what it is, can't tell you how often I will be posting here because I don't know myself, and I may not ever get caught up on replies, but will continue to try...
More will be revealed when I find and/or figure it out myself, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Wednesday, August 16, 2006 Be back Monday!
Hey all! Except maybe a few times for a few minutes I'm not going to be around here till Monday, it's a good thing, a real good thing, a real, real, real, good thing, a very, very, etc...
OK, that's enough...
Unfortunately not going to be able to say what it is when I get back, but can assure you that more will be revealed as soon as I can reveal it, hope everyone has an absolutely Wonderful Weekend, take care and God Bless.....Mikey
Ps: One day I "will" get back with everyone on replies, promise...
Monday, August 14, 2006 Tips For Non-Profit Organizations...
Back in October (I think), KC Strate of Bach ECI (Brazoria County Association for Citizens with Handicaps/Early Childhood Intervention) had come by the Friday Morning Breakfast, so for coming by the breakfast I stopped by there to donate some MikeyWear and get more info for a post I wrote on 11-14-2005, and she had sent a thank you card with a hand written note, with a photo of one of the children that were being helped there with Santa...
Now I haven't sold that much MikeyWear yet to be able to make many contributions to the folks I have promised a portion of the off the top profits to and those contributions have been small, but the last time I sent checks to those I had promised to for he sales of the "Jesus Loves Me" t-shirts, without really thinking about it I decided to send an amount equal to what I sent to the others to Bach ECI, and received a thank you card with a hand written note with a photo of one of the children they are helping there...
Twice since then I've been with folks who were having a fundraiser and were trying to decide who they should contribute the money they raised to, and the 1st organization that popped in my head was, yep, you guessed it, Bach ECI...
And I thought it was because she had come by the Friday morning breakfast...
So about a week after last month began I did an inventory of the MikeyWear I have in stock and there were some that were slightly damaged (had a stain or two), so when deciding who to donate them to, well, there's no need to guess who popped in my head anymore...
Then on the way to donate the slightly damaged MikeyWear to Bach ECI I stopped by the post office to check the mail, most of the time I just check to see if there's anything that needs immediate attention (like a request for a Bingo Cage Kit) and throw the rest back in till it starts filling up and this was one of the times I grabbed them all...
Now as anyone that donates to organizations knows, for the week after the 1st of the month, most all of the organizations you donate to mail you a request for more money, some with a return envelope and some without, and that doesn't really matter, because I never can find the return envelopes when I'm sending contributions and use my own anyway, so when taking the mail to the car after pulling it all out of the mailbox I realized why BACH ECI is always the 1st place that always pops in my head when I'm thinking about what non profit organizations to make a contribution to...
It's time to take a break from this to copy and paste |
